History

50 years ago, M.D. Descant Construction Company began on Slaughter House Road in Bunkie, Louisiana in a 12’x24′ metal building. Half of this structure served as a warehouse to store a ragged F-750 bobtail dump truck which was essential to the business. At that time, Mr. M.D.’s primary focus of his business was residential construction in and around the Bunkie community.

Within two years, he ventured into commercial and industrial construction. With strong faith and five children he knew there was no turning back.

What began as a one-man operation has now grown into a family company with three generations of Descants. Our mission statement simply put is “Building for the Future.”.

With that said, we realize the past, present and future success of our company strictly depends on our general superintendents and their dedication to our company.

In today’s business world, technology is essential but we pride ourselves in knowing we learned our trade from the best of teachers, our father, M.D. Descant. As with any type of construction, a solid foundation is crucial to the strength of a structure and Mr. Descant gave his business and his sons this foundation in which today’s company continues to “Build on 50 years of Success.”
